The company has a program for developing technology for use in forest protection, aimed at safeguarding its productivity gains and plantation quality, through the appropriate control of pests, diseases and noxious weeds and the monitoring and control of forest fires.
The criteria for making recommendations and taking decisions are continually revised and include the conducting of studies aimed at reducing the cost of pest control and the use of herbicides and pesticides. For this purpose, the company has adopted a strategic plan that includes training the operational teams, testing of chemical and biological controls and research into the introduction of natural predators, with a view to minimizing the potential risks involved.
