November 24, 2015 - Fibria is the most sustainable company in the Pulp and Paper industry and a highlight in the Customer Relations category of the Exame Sustainability Guide

Fibria is recognized for its sustainable practices for the sixth straight year

São Paulo, November 9, 2015 – Fibria, a Brazilian forestry company and the world’s leading eucalyptus pulp producer, was elected, for the sixth consecutive year, Best Company in the Pulp and Paper Industry by the yearbook “Exame Sustainability Guide.” This year, Fibria also won the award for Most Sustainable Company in the Customer Relations category.

The “Exame Sustainability Guide” was created in 2000 to recognize best practices in sustainability and corporate responsibility in the country. Since 2007, the methodology used to evaluate companies that voluntarily decide to participate in the survey is developed by the Center for Sustainability Studies (GVces) of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV), which is a national and international reference in the field. Last year, in addition to winning the industry award, Fibria was elected Most Sustainable Company of the Year, the yearbook’s highest honor.

“It is with great satisfaction that we receive the news that Fibria was awarded for the sixth straight time. This recognition shows that our path to sustainability as a business principle is seen and recognized by the specialists judging the cases for the guide. This year, we were further honored with the award in the Customer Relations category, which highlights our efforts to always have the client on our side,” said Marcelo Castelli, CEO of Fibria.

The award for most sustainable company in the Pulp and Paper industry highlighted Fibria’s Environmental Restoration Program, which aims to restore 40,000 hectares of the company’s protected areas by 2025. With forests located in the states of Espírito Santo, Bahia, Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul, Fibria had already restored 10,600 hectares by the end of 2014.

“The restoration of degraded areas increases forest coverage and environmental services, such as the conservation of biodiversity and water, and helps to control soil erosion and the proliferation of pests and disease. The effort is aligned with the set of six goals that Fibria has committed to achieve by 2025,” said Maria Luiza de Oliveira Pinto e Paiva, Fibria’s Sustainability, Communication and Corporate Affairs Director.

In the category of Most Sustainable Company in Customer Relations, Fibria was recognized for its process for exchanging information with clients, which assess the satisfaction indicators and targets. “We export pulp to more than 40 countries, for which we have commercial offices in North America, Europe and Asia to accompany the entire customer relations process. This contact goes beyond the sales process, in which we offer personalized service so as to create a perception of value for the commercial, logistics and product development conditions offered to our clients,” said Marina Negrisoli, Fibria’s General Sales Manager.
