The environmental and productive sustainability of eucalyptus forests is directly associated with the choice of proper management techniques and knowledge of the physical environment, which demand investment in mapping of the soil and knowledge of each region’s particularities.

The company has a nutritional monitoring system and a consistent information base on at least three eucalyptus planting cycles, considering the climate and fertility limits in the areas. Fibria’s soil preparation systems are developed to enhance the quality of the forests, reducing operating costs and complying with all the soil conservation requirements, mainly in the areas of high risk for erosion.

Since the 1990s the company has used pulp production waste in fertilizing its plantations, some of which replace chemical agents and contribute to the maintenance of soil fertility indices.
